Celebrating AWU Life Members: Summer 2025

The AWU is proud to award Paul Craig with life membership, after 30 years of service to the union as a delegate at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH). Paul has been involved in representing public health workers in the workplace and negotiating on behalf of members at the workplace and the district level. Paul was always extremely active in growing the union and recruiting new members to build power in the workplace.

In addition to his workplace activities for the union, Paul attended the Queensland Heath Enterprise Bargaining Negotiations and the Public Hospital Oversight Committee, representing AWU members across the whole state.

Paul was always an extremely reliable effective representative for the AWU and as such was elected to the Queensland Branch Executive and has served members on the Executive for 6 consecutive years.

Paul has been involved in many battles for the AWU members, including the battle to protect RDO’s for our Queensland Health members. The “Hitchings Decision” as its fondly referred to, is a memorable time for Queensland Health Workers and Paul was instrumental in achieving that outcome. Congratulations and thank you, Paul, for your dedication and service to our union!
