Regional AWU Members Let Down by Wage Freeze

We know that AWU Members right throughout Queensland are working hard to
keep the state running and support their families and communities during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the Government’s announcement of an unfair and unnecessary
wage freeze has left many workers in the dark about whether they’ll be receiving
future wage increases.
With employers like the Gladstone Ports Corporation, Stanwell Power Station, Main
Roads all impacted by this decision, we know there are many regional AWU members
who will be affected by this.
Regional Queenslanders deserve certainty.
It’s time for the Government and GOC’s to come clean on what this wage freeze
means for QLD workers.
Workers across Regional Queensland are already hurting more than most with COVID-19
having a devastating effect on many towns and communities.
The last thing they need is a wage freeze ripping even more money out of the local
