Vote No to Mater’s Bad Deal

When it comes to your conditions at work, Mater doesn’t care.

Mater has refused to guarantee that operational workers like you will hold onto your current conditions in your next agreement, proposing changes that will leave hundreds of workers worse off.

Mater’s proposal will also undermine your job security, allowing them to stand you down (without pay) with as little as two weeks’ notice.

Mater isn’t doing this to nurses or other health professionals.

Why would they want the ability to stand you down if they don’t intend on using it?

The only way to stop this terrible deal is if a majority of operational workers vote no in the ballot this week.

If you want to stop Mater’s attack on your conditions at work, you need to talk to as many workmates as possible and encourage them to vote no.

Voting is now open and closes at 11:59pm this Friday 15th September 2023 – if you want to vote no, you need to before this time.

Scroll down to find out more information on how to vote in the ballot this week.

Under the proposed agreement

  • Mater will have the ability to stand you down (without pay) with as little as two weeks’ notice.
  • Workers who are currently get 15-minute rest pauses will have them cut to 10 minutes.
  • Workers in North Queensland will have their TOIL cap reduced and it will be harder for them to be paid at a higher level for working higher duties.

Mater’s Stand Down Clause

Don’t just take our word for it – here is the section of Mater’s proposed agreement that details how they can stand you down (our notes are added in red).

This is what they want you to agree to.

If you don’t want Mater to have this power, you MUST vote no this week.

What can you do?
