The Australian Worker Magazine is the official publication of The Australian Workers' Union. Each quarterly publication delivers readers up-to-the-mintue analysis of all the issue that matter. The magazine is an alternative voice that cuts through the bias of mainstream media.
The Australian Worker was born back in 1890, making it arguably the world’s oldest, continuously published labour publication to date. It adheres to a proud publishing tradition and, throughout its long history, The Australian Worker has boasted a stable of exceptional contributors, including the iconic Henry Lawson, Dame Mary Gilmore and John Curtin, Australia’s wartime Prime Minister.
From its humble beginnings as a union newspaper produced by The Australian Workers’ Union (AWU), The Australian Worker has evolved into a sophisticated, broad-interest magazine. Published quarterly, by The Australian Workers’ Union, through the creative services of ACP’s Custom Media department, the magazine may look different to its forebears, but it remains loyal to its core publishing protocols – to inform, to entertain and to inspire. As well, The Australian Worker continues to boast a stable of elite regular contributors, including Mungo MacCallum, Roy Masters and Bob Ellis.
